New year's greeting.
Thank you all for those who attended our Product Creation Meeting last year. As the secretariat, I was deeply moved that so many people are interested in Eisai. By the way, I enjoy surfing during the holidays. The first challenge for beginners in surfing is to capture the wave and to take off (stand on the surfboard). There is a secret to it. The secret is to straighten up your upper body and even out the body weight on your belly to fix your posture to stand up when your surfboard is pushed by the waves. You cannot quickly stand on the surfboard and will be left alone if you are simply lying down on the board with all of your body weight. You can ride on the crest of good waves if you can quickly take off by bringing the balance when you felt gravity on your belly. Please try it.
In addition, similar technique of weight balancing applies to yoga as well. For example, in “wood posture”, you will need to bring your right foot sole on your left thigh, stand on one foot, and cross your hands around your chest and bring them on top your head…and etc. Standing on one foot is unstable and wobbling. To prevent this, similar to surfing techniques, you will need to concentrate and feel the gravity around your belly, which will then stabilize your posture.
Similarly, I always try to stay focused to anything. Applying the same approach, I would like to build myself so that I can always stay focused no matter what kind of hardship I would face.
This year will be a challenging year for Eisai. It is an important year that, while Aricept loses its marketing exclusivity in the U.S., Aricept SR, eribulin, eritoran, and AcipHex ER are now in their final stage to be approved shortly. Especially, NDA submissions of eriublin and eritoran are what we have been waiting for. I would like to emphasize to all investors that Eisai, in 2010, will always stay focused.
